KENNETH BLAYLOCK FUDOSHIN DOJO DOJO CHO
Sensei
Blaylock started his martial
arts training in 1972 at the age of 9 with the Korean art Tang Soo Do, under
Sambumin Harry Roe. He practiced this
art for about a year until the instructor moved away. AIKIDO
He
began
training in Aikido in March of 1984 under Sensei Steven Atkinson.
Sensei Blaylock received the rank of Shodan, first-degree black belt, August 1989 from
Sensei Atkinson with the concurrence of Shihan Frank Doran.
He ran the Nome Aikido Club from 1990 through 1993 while living in Nome,
Alaska. He was promoted to the his current rank of
Nidan, second-degree black belt, from Sensei Calvin Koshiyama at Aikido North in
Anchorage Alaska. SEIBUKAN
JUJUTSU
Ken trained
directly under Shihan Julio Toribio and in 1990 received Shodan, first-degree black belt
in June 1993. Received Yondan,
fourth-degree black belt, June 2000. ENSHIN
ITTO RYU BATTOJUTSU
Sensei Blaylock began
training in this Japanese sword/weapon system in 1994 under Sensei Julio Toribio.
He received his current rank of Nidan, second-degree black belt, in October 2000
from Sensei Sheila Haddad. Sensei Blaylock travels
to Japan to study under Soke Kenshinsai Machida, the grand master of the art. OTHER
SYSTEMS AND DISCIPLINES STUDIED
Sensei
Blaylock has also studied, in varying
degrees, the following disciplines and systems: Takeda Ryu-Ha Aikijujutsu, Bujinkan Ninjutsu, Shotokan
Karate, Hakko Ryu Jujutsu, Kito Ryu Jujutsu, Kodokan Judo, American Kempo
Karate, Wing Chun, Chi Kung, Tai Chi, Hapkido, Seido Energy Healing System, Seikendo, Shiatsu, Ki Massage,
Swedish Massage, Sikh Yogic Massage, Kundalini Yoga, Hatha Yoga, Sports Fitness
and Nutrition, and Chinese Medicine. MILITARY
Ken currently
holds the rank of Major as a full-time officer with the Alaska Army National
Guard. He enlisted into the National
Guard in May 1982. He served as a
Cavalry Scout for four years, and then completed Officer Candidate School in
1986. Ken has studied armor warfare and
tactics at the Armor School in Fort Knox, Kentucky.
Ken is a graduate of the Command and General Staff Officer's School. He has also completed Pathfinder and Sniper training.
Ken has also taught martial arts to military units, including Military
Police, in an official capacity. PUBLIC
PRESENTATIONS
Gives presentations on, adult and children's safety for Federal, State, and Municipal groups. Together with his wife, Debby, they sponsor and teach Women's Self Defense and Anti Rape seminars, and Ken has been interviewed for Newscasts on Public Safety and Crime. DEBRA
